Liberty Hall![]()
"Tempest's Edge" by Rachel Marks: "Where you can spit on the mat and call the cat a bastard". This is the site that's my home away from home. I've made lifelong friends there, and I'm getting to hone my craft more and more as I hang with those crazy guys. It's a private sight made available by invitation only. So, if you wanna be a member you gotta buy me some chocolate, or something.
Noteboard: The little angelic sister to Liberty Hall. This is a softer side of our little group. You can find all kinds of forums here from art to prose to poetry. And challenges to fit any competitive itch you may get. This is also a private site, but a little more chocolate or maybe some jelly beans might do the trick for me to back you on this one.
Hatrack: This is Orson Scott Card's writer's site. A great peek into the life of getting your work torn to shreds. This was the first site I joined and can be accessed by anyone who wants to jump in. Beware of some sharks here, but mostly it's a fun and safe place to play.
SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators): This is an essential resource for those of us dipping our toes in the young people's book market. Join! It's more than worth the money.
Publisher's Market: To keep up with the ever-changing market. This site will do worlds for your research.
Query Tracker: An awesome little tool I've discovered. Not only that, you can find all kinds of information on agents and editors.
Smartwriters.com: Lots of jewels on this site. A wealth of information. They have a contest every year too.
Duotrope's Digest: "A database of over 1025 current markets for short fiction and poetry" This is a great resource for the frequent subber. You've got to know the market above all things, and this is the place to research. It has everything.
Where the Map Ends: A great place for those of us who love to read and write speculative fiction, precisely Christian Speculative fiction, from the crazy mind of the creator of ReAlms, Jeff Gerke. There's interviews and all kinds of info, including artwork. Soon there will also be a forum. I can see this becoming something really wonderful.
Writer's Weekly: This is a great sight with wonderful articles on writing and publishing. They also have a great newsletter.
Snowflake Method: This is Randy Ingermanson's method for writing a novel, and it works wonders for someone as unorganised as me. Check it out and discover that writing a novel isn't really as hard as it looks. He also has his fiction 101 disk for sale now. Believe me it's worth every penny.
San Diego Writer's Confrence: Someday I'll get to go this conference. It looks amazing!
Mount Hermon: The best writer's conference ever! Of course, I'm not bias. I can't wait for next year!
SCBWI Writer's Conference: I'm going to the L.A. con this year. Lots of big names. I'll let you know how it goes.
*don't worry this isn't all, I'm still working on this page.
